Before Instagram + Instax Mini 8 Launch

Saturday, June 08, 2013

Before selfies and hashtag-food porn (hehehe)...

...My family LOVES pictures na. Kodakan ang tawag nila mom. She used this old Canon de-film camera to capture our baby / kiddie days (aka nung cute pako, char). Inarbor ko kaagad this unit when I saw this dusting and useless na 2 or so years ago. I have a thing for dust-catcher old collectibles. Kung may pera and space ako, siguro antique collector nako, haha.

Mom loves to print our photos in all sizes--for different purposes. Framed picture of our family photo, minus Cea our bunso.

Mom had this reprinted din para may new copy daw sha. Dead-kid (or baby) naman ako dito, while si Ate sobrang hyper na bata palang. Hehehe.

Baby pic with Ate, matagal tong nakatago sa wallet ni mom, till ako na ang nagnakaw hehe. Nautical na ang peg ko non, lol.

Uso pa noon ang photo albums. Pictures with Cea naman nung nag babike pa kami noon sa Roxas Boulevard with the family and yaya. Di ako natuto mag bike. The other photo is with Cea uli, ako yung naka-florals, before leaving the house may picture parin c/o mom!

High school nauso ang NEOPRINTS and STUDIO PIC every time gigimmick ang barkada. Parating "Tara studio pic tayo!" bago mag Starbucks o manuod ng movie sa G4 (hehehe).

Uso pa noon si Marvin the Martian, hahaha. Sayang wala nakong natagong Neo Print copies, ang daling nag fade ng mukha namin. :p Anyway, yun yung tiny pictures na may "kawaii" borders and gagawin nila stickers! Gastos namin dati jan, ubusang baon! :p

College nauso ang digicams, fourth year na ata ako non. My first 2 cameras--Fuji and Kodak. Ang bulky akala mo SLR sa bigat! Haha! And then the red one is a San Miguel Vivitar (de-film) I bought online nung nauuso na uli ang "artsy" film photog.

Spice Cam I bought in Hidalgo Street (camera haven of Manila!) back during my UST days...and for Php500 only. Namamahalan na ako niyan noon dahil maliit lang baon ko, pero back then limited edition na ang Spice Girls collectibles and Polaroid, so bilang 90s kid I bought it nadin. Mickey Mouse old camera--my mom's gift to me nung bata pa ako as in grade school bata.

Post-college, circa 2008, nung nauso na uli ang "Don't think just shoot" toy cameras or Lomography. I bought this Diana+ dahil pinakamura (hehe), while Ate got the more popular Holga Lomo in red.

Magastos sha (with the expensive films + processing) sadly di ko na sha napanindigan in the long run. I miss it though, it's easy to go back and use it again naman uli one of these days. Here's one of my best shots with the Diana-- the church near MOA.

I also bought this second hand Action Sampler Camera online, na may free 2 Vivitar (kasama yung San Mig)

Sample shot, my Ate took my picture nung tinuturo ko (at jinujudge) my cheesy, PDA parentals, hahaha.

And then finally, nauso na uli ang "instant pictures" with INSTAX. I brought my Ate's wide version during our Sagada trip early this year.

Although we took a lot of Instagram-worthy photos, and medyo mabigat bitbitin si Instax lalo while trekking Sagada's mountains, I still brought it with me and took shots of this epic trip. WORTH. IT. Iba yung appeal ng printed photos noh? :)

Yesterday, FUJIFILM launched the Instax Mini 8 -- the latest product of the series of instant film cameras that offer credit card sized photo prints after taking it! The theme of the event is California Girls, so loaded ang venue ng balloons, candies, lollipops, and this cute GIANT inflatable Instax model (na unang nag welcome sakin to the ganap!)

The Instax family! The new Instax Mini 8 is available in white, black, pink, blue, and yellow!

Models took our pictures with the Instax Mini 8! I got mine, and nakalagay na sha sa cupcake as topper (cute!). Program started with the cute host Mikee Jocson with the pink fluffy dress na parang very California Girl nga!

There were several "stations" na pag nacomplete namin, instant raffle entry na. I had my (glitter) tattoo c/o Sarah (inagawan pa ng trabaho si Sir!). Some stations entailed getting popcorn and cotton candies lang! :D

Sir Shuhel Wakimoto of Fuji Film Philippines. Blogger Kryz Uy as the face of Instax Mini 8!

Pagandahan ng pagdesign ng Instax pic contest! Some winners: 1) Marj Sia's nakasabit-pa-sa-balloon film, 2) Bffs scrapbook ba yan? photo, 3) Mikyle's may lollipop and flowers paandar, and 4) Sarah's nakalublob sa basong may tubig! Hahahaha!

Enjoyed the event with them! Good vibes!

A cheesy picture with Sarah, post-event, sa stage.. hahaha:

AND! Best part of the day, leaving the event with my own yellow Instax Mini 8! Yellow!!! Ubusang pera nanaman to for films!!! Hehehe.

I think sobrang fortunate natin to be in this generation na we can take advantage of the more economical digital gadgets (instant na ang pag share ng pics through uploading, at pag di satisfied--pwede pa mag multiple shots ng hindi ka gagastos per click!). But at the same time, we can also enjoy the kawaii and coolness and charm of the de-film cameras. Dalhin ko nga to mamaya for old-school "selfies", hehehe, let's capture more good times!
