Before my flight, I decided to check out one last tourist spot in Cebu. There are several recommendations when you search for where to go around the city, but I haven't been to Fort San Pedro so I went for it.

You can always drink your cup of coffee inside your hotel room or in a nearby coffee shop, but when I saw a photo of Charlie's Cup in a Cebu blogger friend's Instagram account--I was enticed by the view that you can enjoy with your iced latte.
Another year without a spring trip, I made sure to look for a place where the flowers bloom when I had the opportunity to travel for work in Cebu (back story here).
Last week, I was invited to attend an event in Cebu. It was a quick overnight trip to cover Cebu Pacific Air's celebration of their 200 Millionth Juan, so after all the festivities, I decided to extend my stay for a day.
I've been to Cebu several times pre-pandemic, and really enjoyed the city's variety of offerings. Aside from Korea, Cebu is a place I am comfortable traveling solo. From historical sites, to local restaurants and cafes, to Instagram worthy locations, it's no wonder most of my favorite Korean celebrities choose to go to Cebu for their vacation trips!
I've also stayed in several hotels while in the sunny south, but have a new favorite that I discovered because of this trip. Till now, I've been raving about Summit Galleria Cebu to my mom in the hopes of returning with the fam. Hopefully this summer? :)
Now that we are starting to unpause our travel plans, as promised earlier on, I will support our local tourism first.
During the past 2 years, I've been to Boracay, Mindoro, and recently Cebu. The question is, since summer is just around the corner, where do we fly next?

LEGAZPI - For the food, and to see the Mayon Volcano!
BACOLOD - Will also go for the food (sweets!), and to see the Ruins and some of Bacolod's resorts
CORON & PUERTO PRINCESA - To revisit my favorite beaches!
DAVAO - I've been to Davao around a decade ago. Would love to get reacquainted to this beautiful city, and maybe meet with friends there too!

During our flight to Cebu late March of 2022, you can really feel the easing of pandemic travel restrictions with more passengers and lesser travel pre-requisites. For Cebu, travel requirements are back to just your airline ticket and a valid ID. I made sure to still bring my vaccination card, just in case.

And finally, on that same flight from Manila to Cebu, we also witnessed the awarding of Cebu Pacific Air's 200 Millionth Juan: Salbert Garces! He was on his way home to Cebu via the airline’s newest and most eco-friendly aircraft, not knowing he will receive the surprise of his life by winning Unlimited Domestic Flights for a year!

Aside from this coveted prize for every traveler, it was also an honor to be personally awarded by Cebu Pacific president and CEO Lance Gokongwei. Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president for Marketing and Customer Experience, and Alexander Lao, chief strategy officer of Cebu Pacific were also there during the awarding event at the Mactan Airport.

Here's something I realized: I always find myself back in Cebu at least once a year.
One time, I was there with my family for a cousin's wedding. He married a Cebuana. If I remember it correctly, the whole clan was checked-in at the Quest Hotel where our new cousin-in-law used to work so we got good discounts. On that trip, I also remember going to Cebu's Abaca bakery for the first time with Cea, and then spontaneously hailing a cab to the Crown Regency to try their infamous sky ride! 😄
Another time, I went to Cebu solo flight to give a talk on travel hacks for an insurance company. I also went there for (not in particular order) a food crawl, a Vios cup, a Miss Universe coverage work stint in JPark Resort, the launch of the new airport, and of course for Sinulog!
I also had a Cebu trip where I celebrated my birthday away from home for the first time. My friends and I had a fancy dinner, and then later on got drunk with red wine in La Maison Rose!
How many times have you been to Cebu? I cannot even count anymore!
I found myself back in Cebu last weekend, just for a night, to check out their newest airport. I said I wouldn't go out of town anymore so I can prepare for my one month trip, but I cannot resist joining Cebu Pacific as one of the firsts to see the operational Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2. Humirit pa, hehehe!
True enough, it was very impressive and world class! Nakaka proud that we have this here in the country, and I am hoping that our own NAIA here in Metro Manila will follow its standards.
Anyway, let me take you through that short Cebu trip, and why I keep on coming back in the sunny south.

I cannot count anymore how many times I've visited the Queen City of the South that I didn't notice till now that I've already created a series of "Things To Do in Cebu" blog posts. Like in any other destinations, I still look forward to visiting the different sides of Cebu and seeing it as if it's my first time there. True enough, there is still so much to see and do! And although my schedule for this work trip is a bit tight, I made sure to still avail the few hours I have to enjoy my vacation.

I have nothing but good words for the online travel show "Red Talks" by AirAsia which they released last year. Each of the 6 episodes I tried to catch online were inspiring, tackling wide topics including AirAsia's founder Tony Fernandes' story, the wonders of Yogyakarta (on my bucketlist now), and my favorite, the last episode, which is a tribute to all travelers from different walks of life. Aside from the great stories, I also love the visual treats, the script, and how the host Ms. Daphne Oseña-Paez narrates with so much sincerity!
This year, AirAsia returns with another RedTalks with Daphne! And I couldn't get any more excited for a season two!
Ultimate purpose of the quick Cebu trip is to attend the launch of AirAsia RedTalks Season 2, but of course I took initiative and visited other parts of Cebu with fellow blogger Rochelle! Will dedicate a separate post on where we went near the city!
There are things I can't help but associate in certain places. Like coffee when I go to Davao, and shopping whenever I'm in Japan (haha!). When it comes to Cebu, it's always good food!
The second leg of my recent Visayas trip was in the beautiful, sunny south of the Philippines. Cebu is the first capital of the country, and actually Cebu City is our oldest city! I like going here because they have the best of both worlds: a lively city life and a well-preserved natural environment. Cebu is also very rich in history! On my first time in this province, there's so much old houses, monuments, and churches that we visited. Later on, I still have so much to see like the newer Sirao Garden and Temple of Leah. But always, it is not a Cebu trip if I don't get to try newly discovered local restos, cafes, bakeries, and bars!

I've been to Cebu several times over the past years, for vacation, for work, or for a family wedding. So when I received an invite to hold a talk in the sunny south a few weeks ago, I Googled for alternative places that I can sneak in my itinerary, sites that I haven't been to and can visit around the city considering the time constraints.
I only have two days in Cebu, with the first one already dedicated to work. With barely 24 hours during my second day, I decided to rent a taxi so I can easily go to my list of places. I would have gone for the more adventurous motor bike option I've read on the internet, but it was rainy during my stay so I opted for comfort. With the help of the hotel staff, they got me a cab driver and haggled for a good price of Php 2000 inclusive of 3 site visits, + pick-up and drop-off straight to my hotel. Usual price I've read during my research is Php 2500! And so we began our mini excursion....
A few weekends ago, I was invited the last minute to hold a talk on "achieving your travel goals" in a coffee shop in Cebu. I have less than a week to prepare, but what I have in mind the whole time was this: I will get to travel and at the same time work and share something that I am passionate about! I said yes without batting an eyelash.
Aside from planning my presentation and key points, I also sneaked in a few minutes to read blogs on other things to do while in Cebu. I've been to the city several times already (both for vacation or to cover events), but it will be my first time to go there semi-solo. I asked the company if I can extend my flight back so I can make the most out of the travel, and they were very accommodating to my request.
Two days in Cebu and I ended up using half of the time trying Korean cafes, haha! Sharing some of these cool places in this post!

Just like Boracay, Cebu is one of the places that I can go to again and again.
Aside from the chill and casual vibe, there's just so much to see and do whenever I'm in the Queen City of the South.

I remember the time when travels mean FRIENDS and only FRIENDS for me. Family travels are... hmm, not exactly boring or corny, but being with them every single day felt like a trip is just a normal day for us, just in a different setting. But now that I am older, and I see my friends more than my busy sisters and the parentals, going on a family trip is the new shiznit! Most especially when we're complete!

I have to accept that this fast-paced life isn't going to slow down for me. I felt like I just came home from Cebu, and hadn't really fully rested yet (thus getting badly ill during one of my best friends' bridal shower, boo). This weekend, though, I'll be flying back to the sunny south of the country for another wedding of a family, so I might as well catch up with my blog stories for this Cebu trip! Wah!

Anywaaaay. Kalma mode nalang at later I'll be meeting with Tracy, Pax and Mich--coz we're off to the mountains and the waterfalls and the cooold part of the Pilipins!!! Lol! We're going to Sagada! Yahooo! ;p
But before that, rewind muna: last day of our Cebu trip... I finally met Mich's baby! :)
Decided to be a hermit and stayed at home on a Saturday to work on my Love Notes project.
The whole Crazy Gonzales went out, and my hands are a bit tired na ngayon, so kwentuhan ko muna kayo. Mga fellow taong bahays, here's what happened during the fourth day of my Cebu trip a few weeks ago--aka THE highlight of the trip---my birthday lang naman. :)
