Crumpler’s first workbag collection for women is aptly named Wren. It was inspired by the United Kingdom’s Women’s Royal Naval Service
During the First and Second World Wars, the women of WRENS served as cooks, radio operators, weapons analysts, air mechanics and pilots. They were recruited so that more men could be utilized as pilots for the fleets.
Although it may seem like they were given a subordinate role to give way to the men, it was a big step in how the society saw women.
In 1994, the Wrens were integrated into the Royal Navy, and female naval personnel were granted equal status with their male counterparts. The importance of the Wrens in maritime and social history is unquestionable.
The Wren collection was made for that purpose: to make sure strong women who know how to live are complimented with strong bags made for living. Knowing how today’s modern women are empowered, multi-faceted beings, Wren bags are also designed with compartments in all the right places, making room for various daily essentials including phone, cards, tablet, keys, wallet and cosmetics.
