Back In Busan for BuUlGyeong Content Creators Tour! (BUSAN, ULSAN, GYEONGNAM)

Wednesday, January 04, 2023

Hello again, BUSAN!

TRAIN TO BUSAN

Went back to Busan for winning the BuUlGyeong 2022 Hallyu Tour with other global content creators! The goal is to see more of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam and post about it online. Extended my trip when I found out, thank God for easy rebooking with Cebu Pacific!

We took the speed train from Seoul Station to Busan Station so we won’t be late for the call-time. Ride took about 2.5 hours (buses will take 5 hours). You can purchase ticket in advance online or even via Klook, but we got ours on-the-spot.

BUSAN

Busan Museum of Movies & Trick Eye Museum

A 2-in-one place in Busan! First floor has a lot of interactive trick eye rooms(use their app for more effects), while upper floors have informative and still photogenic rooms featuring Busan's movie industry.

❤ Ryan Holiday

Ryan Holiday is a new attraction in Haeundae Beach, Busan featuring the Kakao characters. Complete the stamps event by going through each room, and win Kakao gifts. They have 4D viewing experience, lots of photo zones, a cafe, etc.

GYEONGNAM

❤ Munsan Catholic Church, Jinju

Munsan is the first Catholic church in Jinju. This is also a Kdrama filming location Lee Min Ho's The King: Eternal Monarch.

❤ Jinjuseong Fortress

Enjoyed this part of our BuUlGyeong tour. We all went to the Jinjuseong Fortress, bought Korean Traditional Crispy Puff Rice Biscuit, and took pics with the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival as our background. It was all our first time in Jinju, too!

❤ Jinju Namgang Yudeong Festival

What a joy to experience a Korean festival with friends!

During the day, we rented traditional Korean costumes that we wore around the Jinjuseong Fortress. For a change coz I've been wearing hanbok on my last Korea trips, I rented a 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 costume and the best part is it's for FREE!

The Jinju Namgang Yudeong Festival "originates from the FLOATING LANTERNS that were used during the Imjin War as a MILITARY STRATEGY to prevent JAPANESE TROOPS from wading the Namgang River". (from visitkorea)

ULSAN

This was also my first time in Ulsan! Stayed at the Lotte City Hotel Ulsan, and just went to Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village. It was a chill city, very quiet and urban, but less touristy. A place to explore more next time!

❤ Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village

The Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village became popular to the locals since the Kdrama Extraordinary Attorney Woo came out. It is not a filming location, but has a lot of whale elements in it (Woo Young Woo's favorite).

The theme park recreated scenes of an old whaling village which was famous in Ulsan. They also have shops and streets resembling old Korea from the 60s to 80s, including themed rooms, cafe, arcade, school, etc. I regret not availing their vintage school uniform rental for only KRW 3000!⁣

The BuUlGyeong tour was for only 3D2N, but it was packed with fun intinerary! I was with around 30 (?) other international content creators, but my friends and I were the only ones traveling long-term in Korea. So most of the people we were with already live in Korea as students, and they shared so many of their interesting stories of studying and living in my dream country. Nakakainspire, sa totoo lang!

Super enjoyed seeing other parts of Korea (Ulsan and Gyeongnam are both new to me) tapos all-expense paid pa, but the most memorable part for me in joining this tour is meeting new international friends. Ang dami naming vegetarian sa bus, so my meals were all interesting, hehe. And special mention to Jyoti from India--my forever bus seatmate who always have fun stories up her sleeves! She indulged all my curious questions haha from India to studying in Korea. For such a young age, she's very insightful and adventurous!

Some group snaps shared in our Kakao group chat:

First meal! May sarili pa kaming PH kids na table at that time haha

...To getting to know the other travelers we were with on our first dinner! This was in Busan.

We were the only Pinoys in the group, nosebleed pero ang saya kasi madami ka matututunan!

Seated next to my girl Jyoti, she was truly a light person to be with!

A big thank you to Wonder Tour Korea for making me part of this trip. Everybody's so pleasant and a joy to be with. It made my last few days in Korea very memorable--the cherry on top of the cake if I may say so.
