Then I "meet" the nerds

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

As mentioned HERE , I bought several pirated DVDs of different series and movie collections to satisfy my cravings for such. Along with the illegal purchase (hahaha) was the 3 seasons of the Big Bang Theory series--which was recommended by Tamems and my Ate because it is "funny".

I was hesitant at first, because I just watched How I Met Your Mother (4th and 5th)...and Cea and I discussed how our standards might currently be higher, and the risk of having to compare the two "funny series" was high. I don't want to hate Big Bang just because I love/have a big bias for Barney Stinson and his too-cool barkada! Haha!

But days after I finished HIMYM, I plopped down our sofa this afternoon, nothing to do since I took an early break from my online shop for the Holy Week, and before I knew it... finished the whole season 1 of this geek-laugh trip series! And hey, I actually love it!!!

Revenge of the Nerds!
The new gang I came to love: Howard, Leonard, Sheldon, Penny, and Raj!

The physicists are socially awkward and weird, carrying around big terminologies and concepts in their daily conversations ...but their humor is a hit--big time! =D And hey, I was part of the class of "nerds" in my 4 years of high school, we were called "homogenius" for being part of the top 40 of the batch. Separated, isolated, and sometimes--discriminated! ;D But as the tagline of this series say: "SMART IS THE NEW SEXY"! XD

With my girls! :) I'm the 4-eyes girl with looong hair! In my junior year (before Prom!), so please me a break. ;) Haha!

A plus is that the theme song of the series is really cute! ;p

Our whole universe was in a hot dense state,
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started. Wait...
The Earth began to cool,
The autotrophs began to drool,
Neanderthals developed tools,
We built a wall (we built the pyramids),
Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries,
That all started with the big bang!

1. A black Rayban Wayfarers
..To look instantly "celeb"-ish (haha), and just perfect for the summer! ;p

2. A Men's Watch
Techno Marine in white&gold will be great!
Or even in standard black (to match any outfit)..it's the ultimate accessory! =p

3. A Denim Polo
(from promod's website)
Coz I'd like to try different experimental-styles with it:
a) Denim-on-Denim
b) Monochromatic Outfit (All-Blue)

4. Floral and Bright Skirts
(Top Shop skirts pic from whisty.files.wordpress.com)
The ultimate summer bottoms! :D Light and breezy!

5. Summer-y Sandals
So I can take my maxi-dress out of the closet, even when it's not (yet!) for a beach trip! ;p

the only edward that i'll love ♥

Saw this photo some months ago in Tumblr, and then watched Edward Scissorhands again last night in my pirata Johnny Depp collection DVDs with my Ate and Dad. Heartbroken with Edward's story. =/ It is like saying (in a figurative-movie) that everyone is prone to hurt another, if he/she stays too close..intended or not. And love is either to stay close even with the pain, or to hide/run away so as not to make anymore harm. Loneliness and Life!

Ate wants to watch a movie (old or new, repeat or new--haha) at least once a week! I hope I can keep up with her! =) I love drowning in good books, series, and films!

Off to Tagaytay!

Tie the trusty sneakers..

Ready the DSLR!

Put on shimmery make up..... (and nail polish!) =)

Ready your shades, head scarf, and floral shorts...

 Pack your bags!

and pile on the blings

Turn up the car stereo.......And gather your girls for the ultimate day-trip! =D

Just to...
Laze around!

Drink some cold caffeine..

Take loads more photos......

..while FLYING! :D

Headed south yesterday with my bullies: Ana, Tamems, and Marj! :-)
Marj, who is on a two-week break from Med School, provided the ride, and the 4 of us had major road trip (just one whole day!) in the nearest vacation spot from our place: Tagaytay! Known for being a cold spot just around 2-hour away from Makati, we prepared our jackets only to be failed by summer's scorching heat. Oh but it got cold mid-afternoon! =)

Food (and photo!) trip in Bag of Beans, as recommended by my sister. Then off to People's Park to try the Zip Line! Then spent the rest of the day food tripping--cocktails (Cosmopolitan) at a grill place over looking the Taal, frozen yogurt with strawberries in a place witty-ly named "Flirt" (haha!), and then crepes (tuna for them, then banana with Nutella for everyone!) in Cafe Breton. Played good ol' Pictionary (reminiscing high school memories!). Laugh trips. Talks. Q&As. Sticks and sticks of cigarettes consumed. And more photo sessions. Oh the life!

Since Tamems brought her SLR, I wasn't able to take lots of pics with my point-and-shoot. Will wait when she uploads her photos already--we all took turns "playing" with the jumbo camera, I'm sure lots of memories were captured in it! ;)

Hoping (or DEMANDING!) for a repeat, coz, hey! SUMMER IS JUST STARTING!!! :D

Song of the Day:
beautiful girls all over the world
i could be chasing but my time would be wasted
they got nothing on you baby
nothing on you baby
they might say hi and i might say hey
but you shouldn't worry about what they say
cos they got nothing on you baby
nothing on you baby

Guess where were we? =)

We weren't in a party...but in a private sale of Soak Swimwear! :D
For the second year, Marj and I went together to check out the local brand's really cool pieces! What I love with Soak's private sales, other than the cool (inspiring!) set-up of a mini-bazaar with dressing rooms and all in the Makati resto-bar Ponticello--is that they also serve food and drinks!!! :D That's 4-cheese pizza, veg pizza, and margarita for me today!! :D

Hang out/shopping (Marj only, haha!) with Marj later on in Greenbelt. Long talk in UCC on her med life, my biz life, and generally, everything under the sun! I don't keep anything from her. =D I really missed Marj! She's super busy with her studies (Medicine in UST). But we swore, whoever gets rich first (haha!), will have to treat the other to a big time shopping spree!!! XD

Some fave-finds in Soak:
Luxor Halter

Nautical One-piece

Really gypsy-looking swimwear! ;p

Bought pieces from another brand before, though, so I stopped myself from getting anything kanina, although their dresses and cover-ups are also really nice! :D

The Art of Asking Permission! :D
Consecutive overnights??? Chart it!!!

...then add some crappy unrelated details, but will make you look really good to your parents! ;D
(I think this was in my first year in college =))

**

A test paper in my 4th year high school physics class....

......With added little notes from my "terror" prof! :D

"Thank you for the nice gift. You can check it out in the office. -Mrs F" (Ok scary to go to the office! Haha! Does this mean I send gifts to my teachers then?? :D For what? Hahaha!)

"Thanks for the wonderful backdrop. - Mrs. F" (I used be the art club president in high school--we were assigned to make backdrops for school events, back during ancient times when we have to paint everything! Now they just use, what, tarpaulins? Computer projected whatnots??? :D)

Meet Ups

"Over the phone you said you could picture how I looked."
"I meant there was something I could sense about you."
"And that was enough for you to spot me right away?"
"I could tell in no time at all."

***
My meet ups with accessories buyers from my online shop requires me texting detailed account of my outfit for the day (coz you just can't say "I'm wearing red!" haha) and exact location.

Usual script goes:
"Hi____! I'm here na in McDo, near the CR, in the pang-dalawahang upuan, wearing orange floral top and big violet bag." Or
"I'm in black with two big bags here at South Gate"...Haha!

Good thing I am always in something weird, it's easy to distinguish me in a crowd (I think! :D)...How easier the life of meet-up-er like me if only people can sense the other, ala the quote I posted above, which I pulled out from my current read:

It was actually a hard-read while commuting, holding the book while my other hand held on the train's pole to keep my balance. ;p But going home from my short meet up today, I realized I am starting to comprehend the language Murakami used in this novel. =D ;D I actually love the story!

Btw, went to one meet up today in Cubao with a girl who can't send her deposit slip in clear copy. Afraid of bogus buyers, I asked if we can meet up instead of shipping...she turned out to be a nice girl who studies in UST. =) I was just being praning (paranoid), but it's all for the biz! Met her while eating angel hair pomodoro in Burgoo (yum-mmyyyy!)

After Cubao, I went to Summit Office and bumped into Niz, who already resigned from Cosmo Mag. I went there to drop off accessories for a fashion shoot--I am really really really excited on this one because they'll be featuring Anagon Collection not on the article/feature/situation pages (as so the past months), but in the FASHION PAGES this time!!!! =D Weeee!!!

*
PS: If I meet up, let's say, an average of 10 people a week, then that's 40 individuals a month, 480 new faces in a year!!! What if I continue meeting up buyers till I'm, let's say, 30 years old...that's 2880 people to stumble upon...some even become friends with!... from now till then!!! :D

If I were you, I would fall for me.

Happy Birthday Jason Castro!!! :D
(blog title from Jason's song If I were you ;p)

Please don't tell me I should have lived in Tumblr instead. Hahahah! I dont have an account there, but I love browsing through the famous pages from that site, and bookmarking the urls I find really interesting bloggers/re-bloggers alike. Hehe!

Old carnivals and rusty roller coasters. Will always intrigue me like from a scene in Are You Afraid Of The Dark? A childhood thrill-addiction, goes with reading all the Goosebumps and other RL Stine books (Choose a scare!). ;p

A stick reflecting a gun, a killer hidden in the shadows. I couldn't explain how I wanted to influence people close to me (who are all smokers, hah!)...to stop the habit, but later on will tell them that I know everything is in vain because in the end, it's all up to the person. But then, at least I tried! I wouldn't want the day to come when I have to look back and say why didn't I at least tried
(Some people around them might see their little habits differently (cool? a bond?), when me as their (non-smoking) friend will see those sticks as slowlykillin them. ;p I am over-reacting, but it's because I guess it comes with my role. As their friend who cares. ;-))

A photo of a lone girl reaching to the skies, enveloping herself with the universe. I love meditations. I miss attending my yoga classes, or just being all-"reflecty". But I guess blogging helps! The girl reminded me of Star Girl Caraway in the second book (Love, Stargirl). =)

I rode my bike to Enchanted Hill. I walked to the center. The ground was cold and clumpy against the soles of my bare feet. I liked the feel of it. The hard, real now-ness of it. I felt alone on the planet drifting through the cosmos. With both hands I reached out to the night. There was no answer. Or maybe I just couldn't hear it.

All photos from loveyourchaos.tumblr.com =) I love that site!

I want a long vacation! :p

Saw this while browsing through online albums of our November 09 Hong Kong trip.
I miss HK trains!!! =/

Some out-of-the-country trips I'm looking forward to:
May: Indo-China with my Bullies
November: Singapore with my Ate (yehey, Universal Studios!!! :D)

I love Cebu Pacific seat sales!!!
I hope I have domestic getaways toooo!

Some room updates....

Last night was my first night to sleep again in my blue room.
No more strong paint smell, and ate is back from Bohol, I have no choice but to try out my room's feel/aura.
Slept till 12 noon! Haha!

Did not go out today (for our jog!!!) just to continue filling and arranging the shelves with my beads, boxes, supplies, books, notebooks, wires, etcetera. :D Also started cleaning the old shelves and cabinets--throwing away old notes, trying to organize and store knick-knacks, memorabilias, papers. I realized it will take more than a day to do this--even a week! ;p

Anyway, I'm loving my huge bed right now, so cleaning up (also known as time machine/looking back/reminiscing! :))...the whole day is perfect for a looong night of beauty sleep. =) I love it!

Seriously. Jesus started the whole "wait three days" thing. He waited three days to come back to life. It was perfect! If he had only waited one day, a lot of people wouldn't have even heard that he died. They'd be all, "Hey Jesus, what up?" and Jesus would probably be like, "What up? I died yesterday!" and then they'd be all, "Uhh, you look pretty alive to me, dude..." and then Jesus would have to explain how he was resurrected, and how it was a miracle, and then the dude would be like "Uh okayy, whatever you say, bro..." And he's not gonna come back on a Saturday. Everybody's busy, doing chores, workin' the loom, trimmin' the beard, NO. He waited the exact right number of days, THREE. Plus it's Sunday, so everyone's in church already, they're all in there "Oh no, Jesus is dead", then BAM! He bursts through the back door, runs up the aisle, everyone's totally psyched, and FYI, that's when he invented the high five. Three days. We wait three days to call a woman, because that's how long Jesus wants us to wait.... True story.
-Barney Stinson, HIMYM

The great moments of your life won't necessarily be the things you do. They'll also be the things that happen to you. Now, I'm not saying you can't take action to affect the outcome of your life. You have to take action. And you will! But never forget, that on any day, you could step out the front door, and your whole life could change forever. You see the Universe has a plan kids; and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It's a scary thought, but it's also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine constantly working... Making sure that you end up exactly where you're supposed to be.. exactly when you're supposed to be there. The right place. At the right time.
