Korean Lipstick Hacks

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

I realized that I am not much of a lipstick person. Whenever I encounter "situation questions" where I have to choose only one between kilay or lipstick, I always go for the former. It's just that lipstick becomes so high maintenance for me lately, it needs reapplying that I get so lazy to maintain it throughout the day. But there's no denying that a lipstick changes your whole look with just one swipe! My favorite dark violet-brown makes me feel edgier, while a red shade makes my face instantly brighter! Hay, now I actually miss wearing lippies!

To make things more fun, I decided to research on lipstick hacks so I can maximize my growing arsenal. How to make a shade look better on me? How to maximize a tube? HOW TO MAKE LIPSTICK LAST LONGER!??? Here are some tips I found out and will try in the coming days....

1) Lipstick Layering

If you want to maximize your lipstick collection, try layering them to create another look. This also goes for lipsticks that turn to be "not your shade". An unusual light purple lippie when paired with red can achieve the dry rose color popular amongst Koreans. TIP: Use a lip brush so you won't mess up with your tube!

2) Make It Last

I hate reapplying my lipstick! Here's a tip on how to make it last a little bit longer: Apply a thin layer then blot it off lightly with a tissue. Then apply a second thin layer, dust lips with loose powder, before reapplying a final layer of lipstick. Like with your foundation, powder will set the color on your lips allowing the product to stay there longer.

3) Dual Purpose Lippies

Cream lipstick can also be used as a blusher and as eye color! Just make sure to dust loose powder when used as eyeshadow to avoid creasing.

4) Gradient Lips

Another Korean lip trend that won't go away soon is the gradient lips look. To make this possible even without the trendy two-tone or three-tone lipstick, just apply your favorite color on the inner parts of your lips, then blend it outwards with a Q tip or your finger to keep the outer lip color lighter.

5) True To Color

Have you experienced lipstick shades that looks different when applied to your lips? This may be caused by how it blends with your lip color. To achieve a true-to-color lip look, apply BB cushion on your lips before applying your lipstick.
