Things To Do In Singapore + Win A Trip for Two to Singapore!

Thursday, July 25, 2019

Recently, I find myself missing Singapore!

I went there to watch Coldplay concert last 2017, which also instantly became a barkada trip since my friends and I were already there. I stayed in SG for good 10 days, and although it wasn't my first time in this country, I was fun to visit new places especially with friends! I think that's the magic of traveling, if you are curious and open to anything, there will always be something new to see, taste, and do!

Singapore may be a small country, but there are hidden spots yet to be discovered and new establishments yet to explore. I like that this country is:

a) Fairly safe to travel alone,
b) Has really good commuting system, it's easy to go around, and
c) Have so much food and art destinations.

Sharing a list of some of the things we were able to do on my last SG trip. If you have new places i wasn't able to include here, feel free to add them in the comment box below! Maybe I can go to them when I get to visit Singapore this or next year!

Street Art

1) Little India
Nearest MRT Station: Little India, NE7 (Purple)

2) Everton Road
Nearest MRT Station: Outram Park, EW16 / NE3

3) Haji Lane
Nearest MRT Station: Bugis

If you want to walk outdoors instead of the mall, you'll get to appreciate the local street art scene and the many independent fashion and coffee shops when you're in Singapore.

Museums

1) ArtScience Museum
Nearest MRT Station: Bayfront, Promenade, or Marina Bay Station

2) National Gallery Museum
Nearest MRT Station: 5 min walk from City Hall Station, or 10-min walk from Raffles Place Station and Clarke Quay Station

3) Chinatown Heritage Centre
Nearest MRT Station: Chinatown MRT Station

If it's a hot day, a trip to the museum is my go-to activity! Singapore has a lot of staple and new exhibitions that are interesting and even inspiring. I love catching new ones at the ArtScience Museum. One time I was able to check out a Titanic exhibition, and the latest visit I went to the popular TeamLab digital exhibit.

Parks

1) Singapore Botanic Gardens
Nearest MRT Station: Botanic Gardens Station

2) Gardens By The Bay
Nearest MRT Station: Bayfront Station, Exit B

3) Haw Par Villa
Nearest MRT Station: Haw Par Villa Station

Last but not the least, you can also enjoy FREE attractions in Singapore by visiting their parks! The Gardens By The Bay have light shows at night that's worth seeing with your friends.

Other Unique Place in Singapore:
Library@Orchard - Free admission public library inside the mall.
Books Actually - A street with bookshops, book vendos, and such.
Platform 1094 - Harry Potter inspired cafe.

Although I am a big fan of solo traveling, I also enjoy going out of the country with my friends whom I now consider my sisters--my kaakbay sa paglakbay! At the end of the day, I have people I can laugh with and share my stories with. I have traveled to local and international destinations with Tracy and Pax for several times already, and consider them as my travel buddies! We've been friends for more than 10 years already, and just like in the KAAKBAY:Bro video of celeb Father-Son tandem Piolo and Iñigo, memorize nadin namin ang isa't isa. We seldom see each other, but every time we meet or travel we make sure na sulit ang time namin together (quality over quantity!). We may have our differences, but these irks and quirks are spices that make a trip and our friendship even more exciting!

By the way, you can also win a TRIP FOR TWO TO SINGAPORE with Sun Life Financial, no purchase necessary! All you have to do is watch this Youtube video on July 27, 9am, and leave a comment on who your Kaakbay is, and your own stories of lifetime partnerships. You can check the complete mechanic here: http://bit.ly/KaakbaySGMechanics.
