My Cranberries Concert Experience!

Friday, April 13, 2012

I have a faint memory that a song from this band brought me and a dear friend closer. Back in high school, waiting for our teacher for a post-lunch-break subject, we will sing Ode to my Family. Feel na feel namin na parang may pinagdadaanan, trying to imitate Dolores' haunting and distinct vocals. Doo, doo, doo, dooooo...Doo, doo, doo, dooooooo...

The Cranberries is most probably one of my early concept of a "favorite band". In high school, I got a pirated CD of their "best of the best" compilation in St. Cecilia's Hall back when pirated CDs were still openly sold and at a steep price of P100 (ngayon ang P100, 100 songs na! Lol). I don't know why I wanted to listen to No Need to Argue again and again after our teacher played it in our Lit class. Zombie was a favorite videoke song of my cousins. And of course, there is Linger, one of the "cool" songs with easy-to-play chords back in the days I was a frustrated gitarista.

I can't describe then the feeling when I learned that my old friends will be coming here for a concert! SUPER EXCITED! I made sure to watch, with or without kasama. Thank God for Krissy who is always game for anything!!!

Although I have NO idea of their new songs, I will always hold on to those songs that I will never get tired of. There will always be bands so close to my heart, maybe because they were my best company--highest times and lowest days. They wouldn't get tired telling their pangarals, or share my sentiments--with just a press of the repeat button and I have them again. But this time, I was ecstatic to listen to the Cranberries LIVE, and watch Dolores dance the baliw baliwan dance!

And although they did not sing some of my most favorite Cranberries songs (And Krissy's Promises), it was still an awesome experience. The crowd was mostly mga ka generation, people in their quarter life forgetting about their personal crises for a few hours. My favorite moment during the concert was during When You're Gone. And of course Krissy and I tried dancing the baliw baliwan dance! How about you?

Sharing one of my favorite concerts ever here: (And watch Krissy whine by the end of the vid when the band didn't perform Promises, hahaha! :D Love you Krissy!)

  3. Hay! When I learned about the Cranberries' concert, my heart broke (chos!) 'cos I know I can't just fly to Manila even when I want to. Tight ang budget and it's still recovering from Hanson :))
