Giant Lipstick Pen and Makeup 101 with Max Factor!

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

I LOVE watching makeup tutorials via youtube, and I always post about how I learned to line my kilay or eyeliner by just visiting and intently listening and following Michelle Phan and Xteener's mukap advice! Haha!

So it's a whole new (and better) experience for me whenever I get to attend actual makeup classes na pwede akong mag tanong (mangulit, hehe), and apply the skillzz right on-the-spot! Last Saturday after the Giordano Monsters University event, Arnie and I flew to SM Aura to attend Max Factor's special makeup class for SM Prestige members!

The class was held in the SM Aura's Prestige Lounge - lovet here!

Hi Ms. Monica of Max Factor! Thank you for having us!

I love the set-up. They prepared 3 to 4 tables with 4 seats, and individual mirrors, makeup brush sets, and Max Factor goodies for all the students!

Ms. Monica and Hannah of Max Factor Philippines:

The peg for this afternoon's makeup sesh, plus sponges, cotton buds, cotton, tissue, and alcohol for the OC! ;p

They also introduced to us Max Factor's newest babies: the Colour Elixir Giant Pen Stick! Bilang nauuso ang pen-type lipstick, the Giant Pen Stick is available in 9 rich shades, these are easy-to-apply lipchooks for makeup newbies like me! May shades of red, violet, and even fuchsia, and P525 lang sha, so bongga!

“Application is effortless and as they are pencils you get more control. You can line the lips and fill them in with one easy stroke – precision and true colour without bleeding,” comments Max Factor Philippines National Make-up Artist Bobby Carlos--also our teacher for the afternoon!

Some makeup tips and advice I got from Sir Bobby Carlos:

1) The base of the makeup is the most important - so start with a great skincare routine.
2) When applying the foundation / concealer, use the middle and ring fingers - and just tap (not smudge) the product.
3) Do not pull your eye when applying eyeliner (guilty!). Also, eyeliners do not make your eyes bigger, but make it smaller pa!
4) Wet the eye shadow to make it last longer. Blend, blend, blend!
5) In choosing a lip shade, consider the color of your teeth!

And lastly, THERE ARE NO RULES naman talaga, and you can apply whatever method or color you are more comfortable with. "I am here to just teach the typical and ideal methods. But in the end, applying makeup is still up to your preference."

Bare / no-makeup look with Arnie:

....AAAANNNDD!!! Here's after our "makeover"! :D Pasado na ba kami mag makeup?? :)

Ganda! :)

And, of course, para hindi sayang ang mukap! Free photo booth session! FUN!

Love you little sis!

With Ms. Monica! :)
