Hindi na kailangan ng ebidensya for this, it's the rise of street style na naman. Take note of the super daming "OOTDs" and selfies lately --both guys and girls-- sporting the flash-lens, street wear tees, and baseball caps. Note, also, the fashion-lovers' sudden obsession with sneakers and running shoes (itago muna ang heels! lol). Ok, last evidence, balik nadin even the "polo tied around the waist" of the 90s - an instant accessory / pa-different look ---at guilty din ako jan kasi masaya! Haha!
I remembered the launch of the hip store Trilogy Boutique and Canteen in Rada St., Makati - I was writing for Candymag then. Now they've branched out in Alabang Town Center, Shangrila Mall, and, with perfect timing, back in Makati - with a bigger and more accessible home at the G/F of Glorietta 3.
The relaunching last week started with an afternoon meet and greet with big time jeweler to the stars Ben Baller - who also has launched his neat collab with ILLEST inside the new Trilogy boutique. At around 6pm, Glorietta Activity Center showcased the Trilogy goods and even the Illest tanks, simultaneous with a program which included DJ Scratchmark x All Stars, KC Montero and Sanya Smith as hosts, and an interview with street wear founders (and Pinoys!) Bam Barcena (G. P. P. R.), Mark Arcenal (Illest), Lawn Barcena (Hellz Bellz +BOTB), and Dennis Calvero (Crooks and Castles).
Ako na siguro ang sore thumb during the event, bilang forever the hippy / library girl (na minsan donya hahaha). I may never consider myself the cool street kid, but in a weird way I enjoyed the interviews with the brand founders the most! I loved listening to these creative and entrepreneurial kababayans making it big abroad in the fashion industry by just being true to their self and style. Nakakainspire, and with that, in my Archie sweater-- I'll wear my OBEY snap-back with pride. :) HAHA.
