Olay Conversations with KC Concepcion on being her #BestBeautiful

Monday, December 01, 2014

"Beauty is power. If there is a curse, it is more of pagiging anak ng artista."

I was watching the Olay Conversations video via Youtube with one of our best talk show host in the country Tito Boy Abunda. These are series of interviews with celebs on their beautiful stories that will inspire us to become our Best Beautiful selves. First up was with KC Concepcion, where I got the quote above. She talked about becoming braver and bolder with life from her choices in roles, decision making, and a whole lot more. In a way, I started to appreciate the actress more for being real and passionate in her craft.

KC on Being Sharon's Daughter

"I grew up in a box. I didn't know myself. What I knew of myself is who people told me I was. Isa kang ganito, anak ka ni ganyan. Yun ang akala kong ako."

Back when there were no reality shows yet, KC already lived a childhood in front of the cameras. We saw her grew up to become a funky girl, and I even admire her spunk when she started to fill my favorite teen magazine pages. We even followed KC during her Paris schooling stage, which just shows how even that hindi niya matago to herself. There was no escape, but to KC:

"Having a famous last name can be both a blessing and a curse...Kokonti lang ang makakarelate. But I'd rather choose to see it as a blessing. And I'd rather work with it."

"I will always be her daughter. As time goes by, the more I appreciate her as my mother."

On Accepting Kontrabida Roles

"One day I want to sign something na nagawa ko, dahil nakatouch ako ng ibang tao."

KC has long been avoiding kontrabida roles in fear of being labeled as maldita in real life. Then she thought that since people know of her for such a long long time already, there is indeed nothing to prove anymore!

"I really want to work with my acting. I wasn't getting raves from my acting in my first years. Di ko nakukuha ...But with changing roles, nahanap ko yung lugar ko, yung niche ko. Nalimutan nilang si KC ako."

Experimenting, allowing herself to make mistakes, KC is a person I can look up to. She shows who she really is, and is not afraid to commit mistakes and learn, and even broke down in public! During her lowest points, her first public heartbreak, what she felt like something she'll regret only showed her Best Beautiful side:

"Dun ko narealize na tatanggapin padin ako ng tao, kahit wasak na wasak na ang ego ko that time, ang pagkatao ko. I thought I would regret it, but I think after that naramdaman ko na mas nakarelate ang tao sa akin."

On Being Her Best Beautiful

"You already are beautiful, as you are. But you shouldn't settle for less. Find ways to improve yourself more."

To the actress, beauty is Beauty is power. It's also a form of respect. When you make yourself beautiful (inside and out) it is an assurance and kindness to yourself that even other people will see and respect you for.

For her beauty regimen, KC needs an all-in-one product that is both effective and easy for her on-the-go schedule. The Olay Total Effects is her magic in a bottle that serves as a makeup remover. But more than that, the product also preps KC's skin before she ends her day, and in the morning before she puts on her makeup and goes back to work.

"You'll enjoy it when you learn to take care of yourself ...I will work hard, but my face won't show it." KC says it best.
