Pink Sand Beach in the Philippines | Subic Beach, Matnog, Sorsogon

Have you ever been to a pink beach? 

I've always wanted to go to one ever since I discovered that my country, the Philippines, has a lot of pink beaches! We've been to white sand beaches, and of course gray sand is pretty common, but pink beach? Sounds so cool to me!

We have the Great Santa Cruz Island in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur, Sila Island of San Vicente, Northern Samar, Comiran Island of Balabac, Palawan, Parola Island of Panganiban, Camarines Norte, and the Tikling Island and Subic Beach of Matnog, Sorsogon. 

Subic Beach was one of our stops in Matnog, Sorsogon. It is divided into two, Subic Liit and Subic Laki, I think we were able to go to the latter. Subic Beach is famous for its crystal clear waters and pinkish white sands. When we arrived here, I noticed that this place has a lot of tourists compared to our other stops. People, mostly families and barkadas, were hanging out in cottages. A lot were also swimming--taking advantage of the calm, cool waters on a hot day. 

It was my first time to visit a pink beach, and in actual, the sand is not as pink as I thought but a combination of crushed red corals and white sand that gave the illusion of beautiful pink hues ..especially when sand is wet and glimmering under the sun. 

Some of us also swam, but me and the girls just took lots of beach photos! Haha! With family, with friends, or on a solo adventure--Subic Beach of Matnog is a nice place to go back to on my next Sorsogon trip.

How To Go

We arrived in Bicol via Philippine Airlines flight from NAIA to Legazpi City. We had tour vans and guides from then on, but you can also take a 4-hour bus ride to Matnog from Legazpi Bus Terminal. From Matnog Port, you can rent boat to Calintaan Island.

Matnog Island Hopping Itinerary:

1. Fish feeding and swimming in Juag Lagoon Marine Sanctuary

2. Tikling Island

3. Subic Beach

4. Lunch at Murong Burongan Resort

5. Visit the Calintaan underwater cave

We were pressed with time, and were only able to go to 3 places above: Juag Lagoon, Subic Beach, and Murong Burongan Resort. Still, from the food to the natural sites to the friendly people, these places in Matnog made me want to go back here stat!
