A Call for Donations

Friday, November 25, 2011

Got this via email, and thought of re-posting so people who have the means can help out. I think the Wish List part by the end of the letter really hits home. I hope we can all extend our hands and help people, especially now that Christmas is just a month away. It is the season of giving, anyway. :) Spread the love, feel free to reblog or retweet link to your friends and contacts! Thank you and God bless you!

Warm greetings from Economic, Social and Cultural Rights-Asia!

An Ateneo-based human rights organization, ESCR-Asia focuses on the rights  related to health, education, adequate standards of living (adequate food, shelter and water), work, culture and other ESC-related rights. We dedicate our efforts to pushing for human rights for all, with emphasis on the marginalized. Our marginalized partners belong to the informal sector—artisanal fisherfolks, street vendors, and small transport leaders. These vulnerable groups hardly receive social protection, and are barely recognized despite their contribution to the country’s economy.

This Yuletide Season, we are organizing a Christmas celebration with our marginalized partners. It is our sincerest hope to share a happy Christmas with them, and offer, as gifts, donations from our friends and charitable people, companies, and institutions. In this regard, we would like to seek donations of old clothes, shoes, bags, toys, books, and/or used equipment. We also welcome cash and food donations. Attached to this letter is our partners’ simple wish list. You may send or drop off your donations on or before December 15 at:

ESCR-Asia, Inc.
Rm. 5, Mezzanine Floor, Manila Observatory Building
Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City

For cash donations, you may deposit it to our bank account indicated below. Do let us know if you have sent your deposit, so we can take note.

Bank: Metrobank (Katipunan)
Account Name: ESCR-Asia, Inc.
Accound No.: 093-3-09351937-0

If you have inquiries, you may contact Mia or Marilyn at 426-5921 to 23 loc 113 or at 929-3482 (telefax). You may also email us at escasia2003@yahoo.com. For more information about our organization, you may visit: www.escr-asia.org.

It has been another year filled with hardships, but as 2011 draws to a close, your simple gesture of giving is very much appreciated. We hope that your Christmas is also happier and more meaningful knowing that you made these humble people’s hearts and souls smile.

Sincerely,

Resurreccion Lao
Executive Director
