Raffles Design Institute Manila Talk Series 2

Sunday, January 29, 2012

I haven't been to a blog event since the year started! Slight pabusy, also trying to prioritize Anagon Collection muna! But when I got the invitation from Raffles Design Institute for another round of their cool Talk Series, I said yes right away! I love "events" na learning experience! I also enjoyed my first visit in this international school!

Bonding with my vegetarian sistah Kaye Awatin of The Style Flux! Early birds! Haha!

Started with a tour around their neat campus:

Hanep na plantsa! :D

PC Lab and Mac Lab! :)

I love design schools! Raffles' ambiance is overflowing with creativity and ideas! A perfect place for learning!

Raffles Design Institute Manila is the flagship Philippine campus of Raffles Education Corporation (http://www.raffles-education-corporation.com/), the largest premium educational institution in the Asia-Pacific region that currently operates 38 colleges in 34 cities across 14 countries, including Singapore, Australia, Thailand, Hongkong, China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.

RDI Manila (http://raffles-design-institute.com.ph/) in Bonifacio Global City initially offers four courses in Fashion Design, and Fashion Marketing & Management, Visual Communication, and Interior Design. Its academic team is composed of professional practitioners from the US and the UK.

First class: Nag sit-in during the Fashion Design class with Ms. Janet Emmanuel.
The lesson is on Fashion Draping:

One of the students showing her work..High tetch!

The teacher is so hands-on!
The student also revealed that she entered the school with no idea on designing and making clothes, she said she just loves clothes! This is important for me, at least alam ko I can enter the school ng hindi kailangang magaling na! We enroll to learn, anyway! :)

Ms. Janet asking for others' inputs on the design of her student:

Very hands-on ang class, I like it!

Another student of Fashion Draping, plus her former work: Cute green tulle skirt!

The student sharing her pegs to her teacher:

Ms. Janet showing the student how to create something NEW and original from the pegs... Without literally copying!
Ms Janet: This is why it is important that they make these with me, in front of me, so I can see if she's making something different or it becomes too similar to her inspirations.

Next class was on Interior Design Industry Predictions by Lee Miles:

I like the topic #2: Dahil maaapply for Anagon Collection!: )

Cute shop! :D

I am really interested in decorating space, but have no time to learn it. Ang cool din na isa sa tintry daw ngayon ng interior designers is to brush up on graphic and layout designing: Since booming nadin ngayon ang online shops.

Third class, and gising pa ako! With Sir Buz Walker-Teach on Drawing: An Essential Step in Design:

And my last class! :) Fashion Advertising with Ms. Nela San Jose! :)

Where we had an icebreaker kaguley game! :) Guess who, what brand, and what product! :D Ang hirap!

Competitive groups! :D Haha!

We also listened to one of the Raffles students on her report on Fashion Advertising:

Meet my classmates! :)

Love the red socks look!

Lace cover up with paint splats! :)

Cool classmates! Kaye Awatin, Paul Jatayna, Karl Leuterio and AJ Omandac! :)

With people I look up to! :)

With pretty Kaye! :)

...Who won the raffle in Raffles! Which is forever bongga! :) She won something from Power Mac! :D

Thank you RAFFLES for having us again! :) I always have fun whenever I am in your school!
