Yabu made my sister's day :)

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Last May 10 was my bunso sister Cea's birthday. Days before, we already asked for her dinner plans (we treat our family on our birthday dinners, I know I know dapat sila ang manlibre pero nasanay nadin! ;p).

Anyway, Cea really requested for a YABU birthday. I easily got a reservation for 5 people via their Twitter. Yun palang, very impressive na to my family.

It was the parentals' first time in this restaurant, with Mega Mall too far for us Southerners (a branch in ATC, please? :)) We ordered appetizers so mom and dad can taste the goodness that is Potato and Egg Salad (my favorite forever) -

New in: Fresh Fruit Shakes!

Dad enjoying some watermelon goodness while (as usual) playing around with his iTouch (he never gets tired of this toy!)

We also had Cea's favorite: Potato Croquettes:

Finally, our meals came in! Both Mom and Dad got the Seafood Katsu Set. HUGE sets!

Before eating was the dikdik portion: black and white sesame seeds to be mixed with the brown sticky sauce. Just saw their new pestle:

We let our server explain to our first-timer 'rents; he said to take time to finely grind the sesame seeds because the aroma and scent (and the activity) can be therapeutic (tignan naman si dad nag eenjoy! :))

A closeup of the Seafood Katsu Set (with dad's hands, nag didikdik padin sa background, lol) -

My sisters both got their Hire Katsu Sets:

While I had the new Vegetarian Katsu Set:

Finally! Before "special order" ko palang siya, but now this vegetarian goodness is now part of YABU's new menu!

Instead of meat, the meal consists of tofu, onion rings, eggplant, bell peppers, potatoes, and carrots--all covered with YABU's special panko (crumbs).
We vegetarians look for the texture and reallygood sauce in our food--Yabu's light, flaky, and crispy Japanese breadcrumbs, especially when smothered with their yummy signature sesame sauce, satisfies our deprived palates!

Busog pa daw si dad niyan ha! ;P Hehe:

Happy busog family! :)

Went to the restaurant's new loo (another finally! :)), and saw their "blogs and tweets" wall:

Super happy to see my blog on Yabu's photo wall! Thank you for loving us bloggers, and valuing our opinions! Finifeel na feel ko talaga that the inclusion of the Vegetarian Katsu Set in Yabu's menu was made for me! ;D

As if the big discount wasn't enough, our server also gave each of us our free Magnum for dessert!

Happy kid! Thank you YABU for making my sister Cea's birthday extra special (and extra tipid for her wallet!). Di niyo ako pinahiya. :)

As tweeted after this experience, The GREAT food they serve is already a given, but I think what made YABU a favorite is their good service! :) Ok, tandaan niyo yan at baka ma photo wall uli, lol! ;)
