My Year-Ender

Monday, December 31, 2012

Here comes the jackpot question in advance,
...What are you doing New Year's Eve?

When I got home earlier from the EPIC dinner and game night with my blog friends, I started with this whole "a year in recap" thingie na parang naging tradition ko nadin every New Year's Eve. Mga 4 or 5 years ko na ata ginagawa to...but every time narerealize ko nalang na napakabusisi nga pala nito! :p Anyway, gathering my 2012's highlights per month just made me realize how good the year has been to me. Thank you for listening, Universe!

JANUARY

Decided to get my first tattoo on my 26th birthday--an eyeliner tattoo! No regrets, till now, ang sarap kaya gumising ng ready na um-aura (lolz). Magsswimming? Keri! Lol.
I also got surprised by my boy best friend Paul the PR Guy (di pa kami close nun, lol) with an access to the Katy Perry Meet and Greet a day before her concert--which I was also able to watch with my high school friend Alli! Definitely one of the most FUN concerts for me this year, and we were in the Gold Section so ok na na view! Vowed that 2012 will be Concerts Year!

FEBRUARY

Went to Singapore with my Ate just because. Had no itineraries whatsoever, and my sister was there to visit her friends, so I researched on interesting events in SG for my alone time. Was able to catch the awesomesauce broadway Wicked, and visited the Titanic exhibit!
I also got my first all-expense paid trip bilang isang blogger--a Baguio weekend stay with my long-time blog friends Ava, Pax, and Tracy! We witnessed the flower parade, and also nakapag ukay-ukay sa Baguio! What is classic!
Another Feb highlight was going on a Carlos Celdran Intramuros tour with Pax and Mich!

MARCH

The month I got my braces! Struggle lang nung first meal ko as a metal-mouth, laughtrip sa friends ko yung different ways ng pag-attempt ko kumain! Sinabi nila papayat daw ako, looking back...Di din! Lolz.
Nung March din nag photo shoot for the Parisian Bloggers Pictorial, na nagkaroon ng dyaheng online liking contest! Hindi man nanalo, I had a great time and may video pang ebidensha with my dance moves, hahaha. One of the best events for 2012!
This month din nagstart my obsession with the 50s / pin-up style (2).

APRIL

Tambays galore sa house nila Sarah, na may naganap pang pool party. I think every week ako natutulog kanila Sarah nun, paka-nomad lang! Haha!
Also, had the chance to sleepover and blog about Acacia Hotel, a premium accommodation here in Alabang!
Concerts galore month din: Cranberries, Hanson, and Vertical Horizon--with my concert buddy Krissy!

MAY

Another best event as a blogger for 2012: Fashion Field Trip with VNC, The Little Thing She Needs, and The Flat Shop! (Blogged here and here).

JUNE

More hangouts and chill time with my blog friends!
Also tried The Spa's Bridal Package to pamper myself after a tiring but worth it Bloggers United 3 experience.

JULY

The month I got obsessed with blazer-shorts look, and tried donning a trench coat dress!
Nag start din nito ang UAAP season,
plus MANELS produced leather passport holders for my blog The Fashionista Commuter. :)

AUGUST

Attended the crazy Bench's fancon for Siwon and Donghae!
Also the month my blog sister Aisa Ipac celebrated her birthday with a surprise party in Ponti's, na sobrang kaguley, panay sayawan, and talunan! Definitely the PARTY OF THE YEAR!
The blog fam also got together to help the typhoon victims through food packing and distribution with Pino Bar and Restaurant's help.

SEPTEMBER

Got obsessed naman with dresses--lalo na yung dress-blazer look.
Also got chosen (and won P10K F21 GCs!) as the Best Dressed during the Lolita event!
I also watched Perks of Being a Wallflowerand, cheesy na kung cheesy, learned a lot of valuable life lessons.

OCTOBER

Tried all sorts of styles last October, had fun trying out different looks! Sabi nga nila, makikilala mo rin sarili mo through fashion. :)
Also went from straight-hair-forever to kulotsky! Haha! Biggest change of look since my ombre! Thanks again to Azta Urban Salon for the digiperm!
Went to another one for the books trip to Tagaytay for Fitflop event with blog friends Cheyser, Pax, Tracy, Mother Earth, and Mark (2). Had the best wee hours of the night conversations with the girls!
Had a cray time with Pax and Paul during the first Centerstage MOA Idol! I super love them, sobrang crazy and laughtrip lang palagi!
Zac Efron Day.
Went all the way to St. Mary's Baliuag Bulacan for a guest speaker stint on power dressing with bff Paul.

NOVEMBER

More style experiments, and pushed myself to wear looks na hindi ko akalaing kaya kong i-keri! Print on print, hot pink pants, denim on denim, and a short gold sequin dress!
One of the bloggers who designed a pair of canvass sneakers for Shulong's exhibit!
Won P10k with my blog sister Pax at the styling contest for DQ x Araneta!

One of 2012's best concert experience: biglaang The Fray with Niche, Paul, and Pax! We were dancing and jumping the whole time!

DECEMBER

Series of get-togethers with my families and friends from all walks of life!
Pretty Little Liars' Shay Mitchell visited us in BU4, and dropped by Anagon Collection's stall!
Best weekend getaway: Enchanted Kingdom with my blog friends Paul, Dani, Niche, Kelly, Kyle, Pax, and Mich!
Watched my friends work the catwalk during the Move to the Glorietta Vibe event, with a surprise Bamboo and "Click One" concert!
Anagon Collection's exposure in celebs Saab Magalona, Victor Basa, Divine Lee, and bloggers Kryz Uy, Dani Barretto, and Patricia Prieto's sites!
Series of bazaars: Bazaar for All Seasons, SuperSale Bazaar, Karpos Bazaar, and of course BU4!

***

Cheers to the best year yet -
Sabi nga nila Tracy and Pax last night, #NOREGRETS2013!!!
Thank you for completing my 2012, to the new year guys!!! Love you all!

How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd

Lines and pictures above came from one of my all-time favorite sob-fest movies.
I have no plans on going emo (saving this sana for Vday, hahaha), but bilang umulan
nadin naman kanina, decided to bring out my tangerine jacket from WRANGLER,
and sport the look of Kate Winslet aka Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Perfect for the chill-lang day, I also wore my red Veloci watch with the nice red Asprey strap:

Family went to Festival earlier (our every-Sunday mall, haha). Before our ubusang-pera
session (aka shopping), had merienda first with my sister Cea in Pancake House:

Bottle caps tee, hehe:

Hindi naman talaga ako sad (surprisingly, hahaha).. Just going for the Clementine aura---minus the blue hair:

Shared pancakes and fries with my sister (not in pic)

And took more emo pics by the carousel (para may bokeh bokeh effect, hahaha)

It's getting colder now, and finally another year is closing. I usually make those cheesy (and lengthy!) year
enders, but I hope I'll still find the time to compile my 2012 before New Year's Eve (and work!). I love that,
collecting memories, and then realizing that, although the mix, I am actually blessed (even with just the lessons).
Just a hypothetical question, what if the memory-erasing company Lacuna, Inc exists? Would you erase a
certain person in your past that causes your early-morning anxieties? It's a tempting offer, I tell you. It would
be hard to imagine though, what would I be after the process? It's not just about losing the heartaches
anyway, but also killing a part of yourself.

I guess the goal is to reconcile with your 2012 pains before the year ends.
To quote one of the speakers from our church (Bro. Velden Lim):
"Pain without love and purpose is just plain pain. But pain with love and purpose is gain."

To find it in your heart that "it's okay, it's okay, it's okay."
And it's not all pain, I guess. It might have the most intense impact in your life as of the moment,
but you'll eventually outgrow (or get use to) these...

...Until you realize you'll catch yourself remembering the "in betweens",
or the "best fucking night of your entire fucking life".

PS: You might be interested, so I will post nadin this tidbit for the first quote in this post:
The quote is taken from Alexander Pope's poem "Eloisa to Abelard" in which Eloisa has an intense infatuation with Abelard, but he is unable to return her feelings. So instead of praying to have Abelard return her feelings, or for forgiveness of her feelings, she prays instead to forget Abelard entirely. (source)

In between Christmas and the New Year

Friday, December 28, 2012

Catch up lang, before another holiday rush (New Year!)!

I am so happy to be on a self-imposed vacation parin, although I still answer online inquiries parin for
Anagon from time to time (true love na ata to guyz, haha). Yesterday, though, went out to meet my UST friends
for our Christmas reunion. Unlike with my high school friends, I don't know why but I seldom meet with my
college buds, soooo kahit faraway north nila sinet ang lunch, gow! Push! Lol. My outfitelles:

The street is my catwalk, nyahaha.

Checkered polo with lace collars - HerBench
Tan skirt with pocketses and lace edge deets - Petit Monde
Swallow Necklace - The Landmark
Tan Loafers - Hush Puppies
Leopard Bag - Avon Fashions
Photos by Paul Chuapoco, thank you!

The kwentos...

Meet our class president, Cords! Hehe! Taray effect lang yan, but this girl is one of the FUNNIEST persons
I've ever met! :)

We reserved 10 seats in Sambokojin West Avenue. First time to eat there, and in this restaurant, at
impressive naman ang selections! Hi LJ!

Hirap ba mamili sa dami? Haha!
LJ is one of the boys in my class! Sha lang din ata ang nakatuloy ng career in journalism (our course) bilang
photographer sa Manila Bulletin.

Zsa showing off her college ID, na nawala na ang print, nalipat na sa plastic lalagyan, hahahaha!

The girls, with Jam! Jam is one of my first college friends!

Group pic!

I love you guys! Yup 5 lang kami nakapunta! More naman, next time! Still, I had fun at panay tawa lang!

Thank you Jam and Zsa for the Christmas gifts!!!

Sharing some college photos - back when I still have straight black hair, nauuso palang ang cellphone
camera, at pinapangarap ko pang maging isang published writer. :)

Since asa West Ave nadin, had a spontaneous meet up with my best friend Paul. First time to go inside his office:

Since office hours pa nun, nag saling-kit ako in their creatives meeting. Minsan nakiki butt-in ako sa
discussions (lol), but super fun na just watching them plan their 2013 activities:
Ok, acting nalang tong picture nato at wala nang laptop and shiz, wasn't taking photos during the actual
meeting at hiya ko lang, hahaha. Also toured around PMP's office, and finally saw bff's OC hits room! :)

We took our outfit shots in front of their building, and saw JP Singson and his mom in his nearby shop! :)
He took our picture while inside their awesooome Unisex boutique for their FB page.

Afterwards, bff and I headed to SM North to catch The Hobbit on Imax, na hindi mashado naimpress si bff
(sa Imax). Pero laughtrip lang si Golum and pocketsessss, hehehehe!

After strolling, continued our kwentuhans in Bubble Tea..for dinner nadin:

Had random conversations, but most of the time, bff did the talking. I enjoyed listening to his stories, though! It was a happy day of catching up with old friends--to know more on how they had been after years of being out of school. Biro mo, 10 years na halos since our first year in college--at sabi ko nga sa kanila tandang tanda ko padin hanggang ngayon ang first day of school namin! Haha! Crazy college memories--where most people over-used their sudden freedom (haha). And lastly, I will always appreciate getting to know new friends beyond what they are now or what we see from them now, by just listening to their personal stories of their own college (and even younger) selves. :)

TGIF! Woop! Weekend na, bakasyon nanaman! Haha!
