My Airbnb Online Experience: Virtual Travel To Shibuya | Tokyo, Japan

Tuesday, September 29, 2020

No need to ready my Japan visa and passport, pack my luggage, or save up for months. Airbnb now has "Online Experience", which is an alternative travel experience in their app and website!

I know these virtual tours and classes won't replace actual traveling, but 6 months in and no end in sight, I am glad I discovered a very wholesome and safe way to travel the world even at home.

Two nights ago, I was curious how my favorite travel apps and sites are dealing with the pandemic. Some converted their pages into food delivery sites, others have pasabuy services for those who want to purchase items that you can only buy abroad. Honestly, and this is only in my opinion, Airbnb has the best alternative "new normal" offerings. Still related to traveling and experiences, I am sincerely happy that these Airbnb and travel businesses have found an alternative means to work from home.

They have cooking classes, arts and writing, animals, family friendly activities, and all sorts of random offerings from all over the world!

The tour that I signed up for usually charge around Php 300, but I was lucky to chance upon it when it was offered free!

It is a 1-hour tour of Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan. I signed up for the next day tour just to check if this new normal traveling is something that will interest me without damaging my wallet right away. The next day, I got up early after almost forgetting that 9:30 am in Japan is 8:30am here in Manila haha.

I was dilly-dallying minutes before the tour schedule, avoiding early-bird chit chats. But even with my delaying tactics, I clicked the provided Zoom link a minute before we started, and still went in first! Haha!

I've been to Shibuya every year since 2015, and still learned new things from this tour. A new building just opened this year, which will give you the best view of the Shibuya Scramble (so no need na to buy coffee in Starbucks na hehe).

Meanwhile, I know it has been there for years, but I also haven't visited the Cat Temple or Gotokuji in Shibuya!

But of course, may kulang padin talaga. I was able to see the Shibuya Crossing, but without hearing the usual chatter and noise of the streets. Saw the lanes of Japanese restaurants of Shibuya, but without the whiff of delicious Japanese hakata ramen inviting me in. We also took a bus to the Gotokuji, but without heading home with sore legs and feet from too much walking during commutes.

What I like about this Airbnb experience though is it is very interactive. Our tour guide not only prepared for her Shibuya slides, but also a lot of kawaii gimmicks that we enjoyed. Session is also short and sweet (1 hour), so it won't take up your whole day. And lastly, I didn't feel any social anxieties while chatting with complete strangers. Eto yung nagpa kaba sa akin at first, but walang ganun at all. In fact, if anything, the human interaction is the number one travel element replicated by this alternative online trip.

A much-deserved 5-star rating for our tour guide!

"Imagine your face say hello to me, then all the bad days they're nothing to me, with you.."

"I'm the one I should love in this world. The shining me, my precious soul. Now I realize, so I love me. Even if it's not enough, it's so beautiful. I'm the one I should love."

"You can call me artist. You can call me Idol. I don't care. I'm proud of it. No more irony!"

Bela Padilla launches new Korean Skincare brand Britory

Monday, September 21, 2020

It has been 5 days since the launch of Bela Padilla's own Korean skincare brand BRITORY, and I must say, I am so impressed!

A little backstory on my own skincare journey. A few days ago, with coincidental timing, mom, ate, and I talked about the products we use on our faces, and when we started with this whole skincare journey.

Some points from our girl talk: My ate is into western brands like Olay, Estee Lauder, and Kiehls. Meanwhile, mom started late with her skincare, thus getting stubborn sun spots. She likes a mix of Western and Asian brands, not particular with what she uses.

As for me, I realized that I only started taking my routine seriously in 2016, when I got hooked on Korean dramas! My first expensive creams were the ones Kim Bok Joo used in the series, which is Laneige! 😁 Ang lakas pala talaga ng impluwensya ng Hallyu sa life ko noh! Haha! 4 years later, I've tried several local and international brands, but there's none that match with Korean skincare! Exemptions are Japanese brand Hada Labo (You have to try this!) and Filipino brand BeachBorn (biases aside, their products really work for me!).

Anyway, rewind to 2020, staying at home means using less makeup and more skincare. Products came in and out of my vanity table for the past 6 months, and I started loving brands outside my usual. Now let me add another Korean brand to my skincare "muse". What I like about Britory is it has this Pinoy touch because a fellow Filipino created it! With this factor, Britory (brai-tori) has the best ingredients from Korea, that still matches our climate and lifestyle here in tropical Philippines. ❤

Sharing more information about the brand from our online event last week:

  • Britory is a play on the words Bright+Laboratory. They are a skin care company head-quartered in Seoul, South Korea.
  • Their claim: "Glass skin that glows like snow" (to be fair, I've always admired Bela for her glowing skin!)
  • What will make you add the newcomer brand to your beauty arsenal? "I love how we only have two products in our line  but they’re more than enough, because they’re packed with quality ingredients and have such amazing formulations that they really help make my skin glow like snow."
  • The 2 main products: Britory Like Snow Serum (Php 899) and Britory Like Snow Cream (Php 990)
  • Britory Like Snow Serum's Main Ingredients: Niacinamide, Glutathione, Arbutin, Ceramide, Neem Tree Flower Extract, Walnut Leaf Extract, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate
  • Britory Like Snow Cream Main Ingredients: Panthenol, Lactobacillus Ferment Filtrate, Niacinamide, Glutathione, Ceramide, Neem Tree Flower Extract
  • Britory is currently available online via Shopee and Lazada. It will also be launched in Korea soon!

Congrats Team Britory and Bela Padilla for this wonderful brand! My personal take after using them for 5 days straight:

1. They compliment my current skincare, easy to add them to the routine
2. Ang cute talaga ng snowman packaging kaya excited ako gamitin!
3. Surprisingly it has scent (not used to scented skincare products pala), and mabango sya! Not harsh but event made it more fun to apply the serum.
4. Skin felt "chok chok" after application, and honestly ang world-class ng products from formulation to packaging. I can imagine seeing them in Olive Young (Korean one-stop beauty shop, like Watsons).
5. And for its price (below Php 1000) and size, it's worth the try guys!

We simultaneously opened our press packages during the online launch, and received other Korean goodies from Britory. Thank you! Missing my Korea breaks even more!

My BT21 TATA Collection

Tuesday, September 08, 2020

I recently shared one of my current collections, which is BT21 TATA!

I started collecting BT21 TATA, or BTS Kim Taehyung (V)'s character with Line Friends in Korea, back in 2018. I started with unofficial merch. Then, through my travels in Japan, Korea, and even Taiwan, I was able to purchase at least one small item in the official store for every trip.

I didn't notice that it accumulated to this through the years!

I also took advantage of collaboration collections (such as with Innisfree, Vice Cosmetics, Dunkin Donuts Korea, etc), and when Line Friends opened its official store in Manila, I was also able to conveniently buy more official BT21 TATA!

Now that we're always at home, I was able to appreciate how I have these things that make me happy right in my room! I was able to get more BT21 TATA online. They have an official Play Line Friends store in Lazada, but I also saw online toy stores selling BT21. And of course, you can also check out the pasabuy Instagram shops reselling items from Korea.

For links and other details, watch the video of my full BT21 TATA collection here:

Q: How was your weekend?

A: Thank you for asking! Basically filled with BTS Dynamite, received most stuff from recent online shopping, and practiced with my videos (posted on both my ITGT and Youtube!) kaya nagka migraine ng light hehe. Masaya naman. Naka chill ng onti (mostly thanks to the fun comeback!)

Q: How do you price your products? And how are you just in general how are you? 😅😊

A: This is the toughest thing din as a former full time online seller tagal ko din had to deal with this! :)

Dati (or minsan til now lol) I price super low coz alam ko naman mura yun puhunan or raw materials I used.

But you also have to consider a lot of things pala:

1. Shipping or your transpo to get the raw materials.

2. Eto super important: Your time, talent, and efforts!!!

3. You packaging / branding

4. Check how stores with similar products price their goods.

and 5. Ask your trusted circle how they will price or how much nila buy your products, just to have gauge ng ideal price ng products mo. Like anong rate siya mabibili.

At the end of the day though, everything's up to you!

Q: You can also learn po kay Cherish Unni sa Youtube and books from Talk To Me In Korean

A: Hello! Have watched her very first video and helpful nga! Haven't seen the next ones but sige I'll watch them next since done nako sa Coursera and wala na class tomorrow. :)

Thank you for the reco!

Q: I purple you! Wala ako matanong for now but have a wonderful week Ana! 💜

A: Thank you! Needed this!!! Have a productive and happy week din mga ka-Bangtan! 😊❤😍

Q: Nothing to ask--just hope we all stay safe and sane Ana! Grabe this year / this country. 😅

A: Thank you Lorainne! Stay safe and stay healthy too!!! I wanna see your tatt pala!!!

Q: Hi po! As an online seller, what will you do if one of your buyers resell the item that you made?

A: I used to make wire accessories for a living, as in as in para akong machine before making and bending wires everyday.

And yes makaka encounter ako ng reselling ng items ko and for me lang a keber nalang as long as paid na sila sa akin. Mas issue sa akin mga nanggagaya hahaha but even doon wala nako magagawa.

Unless may other issues like just using your pictures but di naman sayo bibili items na binebenta nila, etc... Consider your buyer na nag sesell ng items mo as your reseller! O diba bongga, may branches ka na! 😀

Q: Ms. Ana is there a possibility na gawin nyo rin po yung Dynamite challenge sa Tiktok??...

A: Sadly inopen ko lang Tiktok ko as viewer and to follow ASTRO and BTS! 😅😅😅

Kayo ba nag Titiktok nadin??? :)

Q: Ate Ana saan po kayo bumibili ng mga artworks na nilalagay niyo po sa side ng table niyo po?

A: If the postcards, got them from super random shops, mostly souvenir ko sila from my trips! Meron din from local art shops like Common Room.

If the paintings dito sa likod, most gawa ko or nabili ko before from a lolo street artist my friends and I visited in Manila 2 years ago.

Q: Ano-ano po yung mga items na kino-collect nyo, aside from BT21 / BTS merch? Pasilip po ng collection shelf!

A: Kdrama Merch! :) Clothes, plushies, unofficial and fan-made merch, etc.

Q: Pwede ka ba iguest sa K-Talks series ko sa Youtube? Heheheheh.

A: G na yan!!! :) DM tayo! ❤
