Airplane Kwentos 2

Friday, January 31, 2014

I haven't really fully rested, as in stay and hibernate at least 24 hours in the house, ever since I got home. The trip was on-the-go during the first part, but after the holidays, my stay in Maryland had been so lie-low I missed the everyday-hustle na nakasanayan ko. Can't keep still ba. Yun pala pagkauwi na pagkauwi ko, bawal na pahinga! ;D

A continuation of my airplane kwentos...

During our flight to Narita, we were served with a second meal--Mom's "merienda":

SM Megamall New Mega Fashion Hall and Entertainment Center

Thursday, January 30, 2014

I have to say that for almost 2 months in the States, hindi ko pagpapalit ang mall ng Pinas. Ours is always alive (although minsan sobrang matao) there's just so much things to see and do in the Manilenyo's "second home". Panalo padin ang sinehan natin, sobrang daming food options kahit ano pa budget mo, and lumalaban narin tayo with brand selections. Although may mga covet brands parin na andun lang, and (I think) mas mura parin bilihin doon (lalo na pag sale, pamigay level na talaga!)... When I learned that may H&M na rin dito, aba ba't pa tayo mag iibang bansa diba (hehe, joke lang syempre, but still!).

More than the (future) house of Philippines' first H&M, SM Megamall's new wing Mega Fashion Hall is a promising shopping, dining and lifestyle destination. Attended the launch, which kicked off with a fashion show:

Selfie muna with my "Excited nako to check out the stores and other offerings of the Mega Fashion Hall" face:

The Mega Fashion Hall will house the flagship stores of my favorite brands ZARA and UNIQLO, and new global brands such as Vero Moda, Pull & Bear, and Philosophy. I am also curious with this new beauty organic kiosk as well, a local brand with nice branding and products called Ysabel's Daughter:

Hinay muna ako sa shopping, but I drooled when I saw this HUGE Uniqlo store. Parati kong suot ang Uniqlo jeggings ko sa States, super comfortable.

For sure maraming nag picture and Instagram na nito:

Excited for the BIGGEST Zara in the country, akkk!!! Thisisit, Sarah! :) Photo from Paul. ;)

Basta kainan, gow! Foodies will love the Mega Fashion Hall for its international dining concepts and even homegrown specialty restaurants such as Abe and Viking's Buffet. Even the food court nila is something to look forward to!

IMAX Theater, Director's Club, 14-lane bowling center, and an Olympic-sized ice skating rink complete the new mega lifestyle experience.

We ended our Mega Fashion Hall field trip in the IMAX to catch the movie Jack Ryan--na sobrang intense!

Kung ganito ba naman ang mall diba, I can't blame Pinoys for being such big mallers!
Looking forward to more days in the Mega Fashion Hall!

BLO: Wash, Blow, Go!

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

Here is an interesting "salon" concept para sa mga parating gumaganap at pumapaandar--BLO, a Blow Dry Bar where there are no haircut and color on the menu: Just WASH, BLOW, GO! I visited the opening of their newest branch dito sa Pinas at the new Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall:

Perfect to kapag you have events like weddings, prom, parties, debut, awarding, etcetera. They have 7 different styles na you can choose from for only Php500:

My "Bloer" Mauie, and my seatmate Christine! ;) Mauie told me na BLO is a North American brand, and they use hair products na sa kanila talaga:

While having my Red Carpet style, I tried the popular detox drink from The Skinny Juicery. Favorite flavor daw to ni Ellen Adarna, hehe:

Premium, organic, and 100% great tasting veggie and fruit detox drinks - for more info visit @theskinnyjuiceryph on Instagram, or check out their website at

Meanwhile, aside from the Megamall branch, BLO is also in Rockwell and Serendra:

After 30 minutes! San ang date!? Lels.

For the on-the-go and still wants to look their best, I recommend that you visit BLO kahit less than 1 hour till your event! Here are the WASH BLOW GO options (Php500) -- yung sakin is called the Red Carpet (which I LOVE), but I'd like to try din the soft curls aka Pillow Talk next time. :)

Known for its two all-star football games, and represented by Philippine Azkals, James and Phil Younghusband, CLEAR wishes to further aid the development of Philippine football through a regional search for the top 32 young footballers in the country which will culminate in a 3-day Clear-Manchester United Football Camp facilitated by the Clear-Manchester United Soccer Schools.

Our shared commitment to inspiring today’s youth, through football, not only enhances physical wellbeing, but promotes social development too.

“Manchester United has over a million followers in the Philippines and I am delighted with this opportunity to bring our Soccer Schools to the country through our partnership with CLEAR.” said Jamie Reigle, Managing Director of Manchester United Asia Pacific.

Summer-Ready with the New Nivea!

After months of cold and snow in the US, I realized that my perpetually oily skin can get dry and chapped. So before I fully enjoy the good vibes music, lomo-ing, more reading time, and even more sun exposure (hehe) that is Philippine summer...I also have to search for a great skin moisturizer first. Panalo to encounter in the groceries Nivea Body's new look--100% recyclable bottle packaging na hindi lang ang skin mo ang magiging thankful, but also our environment! ;)

The Body Shop Colorful Spring 2014!

Pageants for the Young Ones

Child beauty pageants are a hot topic these days, especially since the popularity of several reality shows that touch on certain aspects of this topic. However controversial these events may be, there are some real positives that can come from the experience.

Attitude is Everything
Parents who get involved in pageants with their children can really set the tone for how a child's pageant experience will proceed. If the parents have a healthy attitude, and use the experience to reinforce certain life lessons and coping skills, their children can grow in many ways. First of all, pageant participation can increase a child's self-esteem and help them to overcome shyness.

They can also provide physical benefits, such as improved coordination and overall fitness by the emphasis on dance and other physical activities. The skills that they learn through these activities can also help them in the future if they choose to participate in extracurricular activities in school, like sports, drama and public speaking. Children can also learn about such concepts as camaraderie, working as a team, and how to handle pressure. Families who participate in the pageant circuit usually get know each other, and important friendships can develop through their mutual involvement. Other lessons, such as humility, fairness and being a good winner or loser are also important for social development.

Most children who participate in pageants thoroughly enjoy the experience and come out unscathed. If you're considering getting your child involved, keep mind that the media likes to focus on the sensational aspects, and rarely reports on the positives. Child beauty pageants are mostly what the individual makes of them. If a parent and child go into the experience with a healthy attitude, and focus on the fun, positive side, they can really enhance a child's self-esteem and improve their social skills. When the pageant experience is no longer enjoyable or completely voluntary on the part of the participating child, that's when the negative side can cast a shadow over the industry as a whole.

One of the fun aspects of the experience for little girls is the chance to dress up in beautiful gowns. You can find a shop sale for pageant clothing at many brick and mortar outlets and auction sites online. There is a large secondary market for pageant dresses for newcomers to the scene. This avenue allows those on a budget to get a beautiful dress at great savings.
