I miss the Magnum Manila store in SM Aura. I remembered my attempt to go there one last time with @krissyfied, but traffic was so bad that day we ended up having dinner in Makati nalang.
Good news, though, Magnum Manila recently just opened their new store at the Mall of Asia (right across Uniqlo). I think this is just perfect, since I'm feeling summer more and more the past days (huhu, bye sweaters and coats!).
Cream Silk, the number one hair brand in the Philippines, together with the Philippines’ top magazines, continues to champion every Filipina’s journey of transformation, as they launch Cream Silk Transformations: Spotlight on the Modern Filipina, a glamorous, empowering and inspiring activity-filled event this coming January 23, 2016.
I had my first run for the year yesterday at my home base in Filinvest Alabang.
This is also my first run since 2011, something I've avoided because
a) Runs are usually held supersuper early in the morning,
and b) I feel that I am not prepared... but when will we ever be prepared, anyway?
So yesterday, I had no excuse! Venue is just 5 minutes away from home, and I've been going to the gym to hit the cross-training machine at least once a week! I thought the challenge is worth the try.
If it's not yet obvious, I am all for hostels and Airbnb when traveling. Luxury accommodation can wait. For now, while still budget traveling, I'd rather spend on other things and just book for a convenient and affordable place where I can safely leave my luggage and rest for the night.
This was our room in Osaka, Japan last April 2015. Ate booked this room via Airbnb.
I am always interested in finding out a person's first job, and all the challenges and stories that come with it. You get to know someone better with these little tidbits of his or her past. As for me, I've been a big-time raketera ever since I was in college. I remembered not being too active in school organizations, BUT pushing my way through extra-curricular activities outside the campus.
I used to write A LOT in several publications and firms, including Candy Magazine, Smart Parenting, several online portals, Current Magazine (Meralco's company publication), and even for PR firms (shoe brands, campaigns, Sofitel, etc). I can't imagine how I juggled all these with my acads, but I saw "souvenirs" last New Year's Eve when I decided to fix all my closet. I even edited thesis papers!
I can write and write and not get tired (just give me more coffee, haha), and I realized how even now this manifested in how I quickly update my blog after events! Nasanay ako sa deadlines! :)
Sorry for just blabbing on my first 2 Hong Kong blog posts, and forgot to tackle the basics. Thank you to my friend Cords for asking me FAQs, which made me realize that I haven't posted some useful information for you guys who are going to or planning to go to HK soon.
The struggle of traveling alone: self-timer cameras and photo bombers, hehehe.
If you live in, or plan a vacation to, the Dallas, Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Tulsa or Shreveport areas, you should also consider escaping the hectic city life. Plan a side trip within a three to four hour drive to experience a stay in a wilderness cabin located deep in the gorgeous foothills of the Kiamichi Mountains.
Beavers Bend State Park
At this nearby park, there are nature trails, fly fishing on the Lower Mountain Fork River as well as kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, inner tubing, and a swimming beach. Additional features are the Forest Heritage Center, the Nature Center Museum, playgrounds, miniature train rides, horseback rides, and more. In June you can enter into the celebration at the Kiamichi Owa-Chito Festival of the Forest.
Broken Bow Lake
Comprised of more than 14,000 acres of clear and clean water and surrounded by mountains, forests, and shorelines filled with towering pines and rocky cliffs, its nature is protected because no homes, cabins or docks are allowed to be built near the water. There is a marina that offers house boat, boat slip, and jet ski rentals.
Fishing
You do not need a license to fish in the privately stocked ponds on private properties, but you do need a license to fish in the state park or the lake. The Beavers Bend State Park has been upgraded with their own spacious fishing platforms with the added safety of no vehicles allowed.
Hiking and Biking Trails
There are more than 15 miles of hiking and biking trails located throughout Beavers Bend State Park. You can choose an easy ten-minute stroll or a sixteen-mile track since there is a trail to cover all types of distances and levels.
Cabin Rentals
Beavers Bend cabin rentals offer a choice of ten private fully furnished locally owned and maintained cabins with mountain top views just minutes from Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake, Oklahoma. There are different amenities to choose from including a private community center, two stocked fishing ponds, creeks, hills, hiking trails, and more as well as privacy and seclusion.
This is my very first impulsive trip ever, I barely had 2 days till the travel date! I usually book flights in advance to score cheap tickets and also to plan my itinerary ahead. But for this Hong Kong trip, I just felt the need to start the new year on a high note!
Travelled with Marj and her boyfriend + boyfriend's sibling. We were a pretty diverse group (isa gusto shopping, isa hiking, isa touristy spots (me)), but I think this made the trip even more exciting!
